Line Art Deer
This started out as something I was doing for work. I kind of liked it so I figured I’d post it here.

Oh, and if you’re using Internet Explorer, you’re probably having trouble seeing PNG files. Go get Firefox instead.
Another patient insect
Got a lovely shot of a huge spider munching happily on one of those red-striped Boxelder bugs. It was hanging out in the shrubbery by the driveway and was patient enough to wait for me to head into the house, drop off groceries, and come back out with the camera. It even sat through a half-dozen or so flashes while I jockeyed for the best angle.
Anyway, I’ve got some friends that I know are rather arachnophobic, so I’m putting this image after the break.

Fun with transparency
CafePress is doing black shirts now. Even better, they’re using the alpha channel of the source image to determine the transparency of the shirt art. So, in honor of a previous Smithee Award Winner, and to test how this all goes, I’ve done up a new shirt.

Cranky Cat

Do not take my picture. Do not take my #&%@ing picture.
Possible new category – Comic
Playing a bit with Comic Life. It’s almost too easy to make an online strip with this… I’m gonna play with the 30 day free demo for a while, but I won’t be at all surprised if I wind up sending in the $25 registration fee.
And yes, the comic is in .PNG format. It’s not that I hate Internet Explorer, I just hate that it can’t display the transparency correctly.

Halloween thinking
One of our friends has already begun planning his Halloween party. Obviously, it’s not even October yet, but I guess it never hurts to be prepared. So we’ve been doing some pre-Halloween costume contemplation at the House of Q.
This is what we’ve come up with:
And just in case you want one of your very own, I’ve got it set up on CafePress. Click on the shirt to go to the store, or follow this link if you can’t see the PNG file…
Photo Retouching
Via Neil Gaiman’s blog, there’s a fascinating site called “The Art of Retouching” showing before & after photos from Glenn Feron’s portfolio. A lot of them are glamour and cheesecake shots, and it’s incredibly useful to see what gets emphasized (and de-emphasized) in the process from original photograph to final published version. Check it out.
